What happened at the event
On Tuesday 8th March, UJIA Manchester celebrated International Womens Day with TV personality Tracy-Ann Oberman. Tracy-Ann captivated an audience of 55 women with a charismatic story of her path to becoming an actress in London in the 80s and later discussed her role in fighting anti-semitism in Labour under Jeremy Corbyn.
Tracy-Ann resigned from Labour over their delays in taking action against Ken Livingstone for anti-Jewish racism and campaigned tirelessly against attacks on Jews and Israel. She was repeatedly defamed and faced sickening racist and sexist abuse, including personal threats but refused to stop speaking out and encouraging others to do the same.
On International Women’s Day, we were honoured to have her support of UJIA, an organsiation which reflects her values and ours, of support for Israel and pride in Judaism.
A huge thank you to Susie Shonn for opening up her home and 151 Products for their generosity and support.
Here is to strong women. May be know them, may we be them, may be raise them.
