Ethiopian Bar/Bat Mitzvah Graduation Event
It was announced at the UJIA Ethiopian Bar/Bat Mitzvah (EBBM) Programme Graduation event that 100 UJIA EBBM participants had raised over £40,000 for the Ethiopian community, in Kiriyat Bialik, Israel, and that they are still raising more. Held at the UJIA Headquarters in North London, the invitation list included guests from the Kingston and Surbiton, Kinloss, South Hampstead and St. Johns Wood EBBM clubs.
EBBM club participants were invited to write Rosh Hashanah cards to their twins in Israel, provided and sent by UJIA, whilst parents mingled over refreshments. Following the reception and a short introduction to the event, guests were shown a photo montage of the heart-warming work carried out during the programme.
Later, guests watched a video produced in Kiriyat Bialik, showing the effect of the programme on the Ethiopian community in Israel. Memory books and certificates were presented to all of the graduates, before guests sung a lively rendition of ‘KolHaOlamKulo’, together in Hebrew and English.
