Manchester Ladies Night
The UJIA Manchester Women’s Division has relaunched with Ladies Night, a vibrant and atmospheric evening which raised £30,465.
90 women from across the community heard from opera singer Amelia Clarke and the Afternoon Delight Barbershop Quartet, and were entertained by comedienne Sindhu Vee.
Committee member Hilary Krell made the night’s appeal to raise money for Al Sanabel, a social catering project which UJIA supports in Migdal Ha’Emek, northern Israel.
She described how disadvantaged women are given a vital opportunity to be employed to cook healthy school meals for children who are entitled under Ministry of Education provision. A portion of the profits from the business are fed back into the local community.
Guests also saw inspiring footage of Al Sanabel which showed the amazing impact on the women who work there.
UJIA Manchester Chair and trustee Nici Wertheim said, “UJIA’s vision is of a strong British Jewry with a lifelong commitment to Israel and it is wonderful to bring so many women together to work towards this goal at the relaunch of our Manchester Women’s Division.”
