Why do you like working for UJIA?
Having only recently joined the UJIA, I have loved coming to work with a group of people both in the UK and Israel who are so committed and enthusiastic about the goals and projects that we support for the benefit of the Anglo Jewish Community and the whole of Israeli society. As the person responsible for the Ethiopian Bar and Bat Mitzvah programme I love that I can use my skills developed as a teacher for many years and help to expand this project of both education and fundraising, to the benefit of children’s learning in both the UK and for the Ethiopian community in Kiriyat Bialik in Israel.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself
I am a stitcher! I knit and embroider as my way of relaxing. I can’t imagine an evening sitting at home without something in my hands. The interesting thing about this is that it would appear less people do this nowadays, but more and more people want to learn. I’ve been asked to run classes in offices, coffee shops, schools and even a pub! I’m also the mother of two teenage sons, unfortunately neither of them have taken up the challenge yet!
