Empower

We are dedicated to empowering young Jews to forge their own personal relationship with Israel.

There are several key initiatives designed to enhance young peoples’ connection to Israel and foster a sense of belonging to the Jewish people: developing inspiring role models, supporting sustained engagement, removing financial barriers to participation, and safeguarding the ‘seed sector’: youth movements and the Union of Jewish Students.

Role Models and Leadership Development

UJIA utilises role models extensively in our programmes. These role models are pivotal in shaping participants’ views and experiences of Israel, helping to foster a personal and meaningful connection with the country and its culture. UJIA ensures that leaders, known as Madrichim, who guide tours and programmes are well-trained to act as positive role models, influencing participants’ Jewish identities and values. Additionally, the Shinshinim programme involves young Israeli emissaries who act as cultural ambassadors and role models for Jewish youth in the UK.

Access Israel Fund

The Access Israel Fund is an initiative by UJIA aimed at ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent young British Jews from participating in Israel experiences such as Israel Tour, Birthright, Masa, Gap years, and Onward programmes. The Fund plays a critical role in making these educational and identity-enhancing experiences accessible to as many young people as possible by providing bursaries and financial assistance.

Safeguarding the ‘Seed Sector’

UJS and the Youth Movements are the most effective and accessible tool we have where young people are empowered and inspired through role models to forge a personal relationship with Israel. UJIA ensures that they have the strong leadership, organisational capacity and financial sustainability to continue to do this, and can grow to reach more young people for years to come.
