DEADLINE: 18th January 2026

MORE INFORMATION

We want you to join us this summer on Israel Tour!

We know the significant impact our youth movement’s tours have on young people, and now, more than ever, we want to ensure the impact of Israel Tour is accessible to everyone regardless of access or opportunity.

What is it?

UJIA has secured the support of Mosaic Teens to offer a significant subsidy of up to £2200 for applicants with limited engagement and access to Israel travel, Jewish life, and communal structures.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you could receive this subsidy and see the cost of Israel Tour significantly decreased.

We have a significant number of subsidies to offer this summer, and hope that all those eligible will be able to receive this additional funding, however should we be oversubscribed, subsidies will be allocated based on a case-by-case basis.

Applications for this subsidy will open at the same time as Israel Tour applications, but will close on 18th January 2026.

Who is it for?

This subsidy is for applicants who have had limited engagement with Jewish and/or Israel experiences in the past.

Applicants will be scored based on a number of engagement criteria including previous involvement in Youth Movements, previous travel to Israel, engagement in Jewish communal life, and your geographic location.

You don’t have to meet all criteria. All applicants will be scored and subsidies are allocated on a case-by-case basis.

Please note: Means-tested bursaries from UJIA and partner youth movements, for those who can not afford the cost of Israel Tour, will still be available regardless of these engagement criteria. Receiving a subsidy will not negatively impact your eligibility for a bursary. Please speak to your youth movement in confidence if you are worried about meeting the cost of Israel Tour.

You can see full eligibility criteria and application timelines below.

Eligibility

For Summer 2026 subsidies will be available to applicants with limited engagement in Jewish and/or Israel experiences.

This status will be determined through the following criteria

  • Access – Where you live, your ease of access to core Jewish communal hubs and infrastructure, and Jewish schooling.
  • Engagement – Your previous involvement in Jewish Youth Movement programming and residentials. Your involvement in Jewish communal life including synagogues, clubs, and life-cycle events
  • Israel – Your previous visits and experiences in Israel, including holidays and educational travel.

FAQs

The application form can be found at the top of this page once Israel Tour applications open. Simple complete the online application form and you will be considered for the subsidy.

More Information - Israel Tour 2026

UJIA & Mosaic Subsidies will be available for applicants to most UJIA Israel Experience supported Israel Tours in summer 2026. Please contact your movement directly to find out if your Israel Tour is registered for the Mosaic subsidy scheme.

You will not be eligible to receive a subsidy for other summer Youth Movement programmes, for example Europe Tours.

Recipients will engage in a specific education programme for at least 8 hours prior to going on their Israel Tour. Each youth movement will have a tailor-made programme based on their own ideology and Israel engagement.

All Israel Tour participants will be offered the chance to continue their journey with their movement through various opportunities including volunteering, hadracha (leadership) training, and movement events. UJIA & Mosaic subsidy recipients can enjoy taking the next step in their movement journey by getting involved alongside your new friends!

The eligibility criteria listed above are the metric through which we score applications. Anyone who applies for Israel Tour is welcome to apply for a UJIA-Mosaic subsidy and your application will be scored.

The only criteria that would make you ineligible for the subsidy is your Israel travel. If the applicant has been to Israel 2 or more times, you are not eligible for the subsidy.

This subsidy is not means-tested, however funding is limited. We would encourage those who are comfortably able to meet the cost of Israel Tour to consider whether or not they should apply.

Mosaic Teens is an organisation, with funding from the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs in Israel, whose mission is to ‘Bring together, spur, and equip organisations working to strengthen the connection of young Jews to their Jewish identities and Israel.’

UJIA has worked hard to build a partnership with Mosaic to ensure that UJIA Israel Israel Experience Tours from the UK are able to access additional subsidies. For eligible applicants, subsidies are available of up to £2200 per participant through generous funding from UJIA and Mosaic.

Mosaic announced “Since October 7th, [travel to Israel] has become vital. We are determined to provide Jewish teens across the world with the opportunity to experience Israel firsthand and forge connections with the land, its people, and the global Jewish community.”

2025 Award Process Summary

As of 30/07/2025 we are pleased to have awarded 65 Mosaic vouchers to Israel Tour participants.

Israel Tour has a much-needed and well-documented positive impact on young people being able to articulate their own personal relationship with Israel and the Jewish people. More than ever, we need to ensure that as many young people as possible can experience an Israel Tour. Over 90% of participants last summer agreed or strongly agreed that as a result of Israel Tour they felt proud to be Jewish and a part of the Jewish people.

Therefore, our goal at UJIA has been to increase the number of people who are participating in this important rite of passage, especially as numbers have declined compared to previous years due to the impact of the pandemic and the current war.  For families who are not eligible for a bursary and have less engagement with Israel, the cost of the programme has been regularly cited as an obstacle.  As such, we have been working for over a year to secure funding from Mosaic, available to other diaspora communities.  Shortly before the launch of Israel Tour 2025, UJIA received confirmation from Israel that funding for the UK would indeed be possible.

The additional subsidy granted this year through Mosaic, is not means-tested and does not limit resources available for the regular financial assistance process UJIA leads where we annually distribute over £270,000 of bursary funds to those who need it the most.  The Mosaic award globally is a specific subsidy targeted at those with limited engagement in Israel and/or Jewish communal life.  Since the criteria for North America are not fully applicable to the UK, UJIA and Mosaic created specific criteria for the UK community to attempt to gauge what might be considered ‘under-engaged’ young people. For this first pilot year these included:

  • geographical location/access to communal infrastructure
  • number of times having visited Israel
  • degree of involvement with Zionist youth organisations and activities

As stated earlier on this page: the ideal recipients include applicants who have never been to Israel before, have not been on a Zionist youth movement residential experience before, or who live outside of the main Jewish communal centres in the UK and therefore have limited access to Jewish communal life. You don’t have to meet all these criteria. Just one will make you eligible for consideration, and subsidies are assessed on a case-by-case basis.  Attendance at a Jewish School alone does not necessarily indicate a high-level of Israel engagement, whereas multiple visits to Israel or frequent attendance at a Zionist youth movement/organisation residential is a stronger indication.

A scored assessment of all the criteria was made for every applicant for Israel Tour, against the information provided in their application form in order to determine whether they were eligible for the Mosaic award.  Once individuals were told they were potentially eligible for the subsidy, they were informed of the requirements associated and had to fill in and send over a further review form. This form required additional information about their family engagement with Israel and the Jewish community. After this form was submitted, seven vouchers were withdrawn based on new information received; and to date, a total of 65 Mosaic awards have been made.

More Information - Israel Tour 2025

Israel Tour participants who have received the Mosaic award are required to complete eight hours of structured learning about Israel prior to the programme, reducing knowledge gaps and therefore enhancing the level of Israel education for the group as a whole.  Israel Tours with participants who are Mosaic awardees unlock additional funds for the entire tour to allow Israeli peers to join.  This is an important educational opportunity for every young Jewish person from the UK but also for young Israelis who have suffered due to the ongoing impact of the war.  In addition, we will be approaching all Mosaic award families after the summer with a request to support the UJIA Israel Experience bursary fund for those who require financial assistance in 2026 and beyond.
